Application Virtualisation

Application Virtualisation allows a program to be run from a locally installed operating system, without itself being locally installed. The application is still executed on the client device but the layer of configuration normally required to run it has been separated from the local operating system and is delivered over the network - only when needed.

Creation of a virtualised app involves packaging of specific shared resources with the executable code so that it can be launched from the local machine's cache.

Application Virtualisation adds new agility to the way an organisation deploys and updates its line-of-business software. It also counteracts issues of interoperability between differing versions and operating environments, reducing operational risks associated with application deployment and greatly minimising unexpected complications.

Every application depends on its OS for a range of services, including memory allocation, device drivers, and much more. This technology is also the perfect companion for delivering enterprise class, server based computing solutions and is a great way of reducing operating costs.
