Software Virtualisation

Software Virtualisation allows programmes to be run on a desktop device or laptop with out the need for it to have been locally installed. The application is still executed on the client device but the layer of configuration normally required to run it has been separated from the local operating system and is delivered over the network - only when needed.

ukngroup have found this new and exciting technology brings with it a variety of business benefits such as improving the speed an organisation is able to deploy and update its corporate applications or reducing issues of interoperability between differing versions and operating environments.

However, the key business driver is the ability to reduce operational risks associated with application deployment and greatly minimising the possibility of unexpected complications.

Every application depends on its OS for a range of services, including memory allocation, device drivers, and much more. Incompatibilities between an application and its operating system can be addressed by either server virtualisation or presentation virtualisation. But for incompatibilities between two applications installed on the same instance of an OS, you need application virtualization.

Software virtualisation creates application-specific copies of all shared resources and packages them along with the executable code so that it can be launched from the machine's cache, thereby creating a virtual application.

ukngroup uses this technology in a variety of different environments and is keenly positioned to advise businesses on effective ways they will be able to benefit from it.
