UTC Migration and Risk Management

Large-scale projects may invariably invite significant risks which in turn can expose a business or organisation to financial losses. CIOs and Heads of IT are faced with the challenge of delivering improvements back into their organisations with the minimum level of impact and risk. Understanding the forces and mechanisms which could be susceptible is the fundamental challenge when controlling and mitigating project-related risks.

ukngroup provides our clients an opportunity to share the risk of a UTC project, with tried and tested methodologies for deployment by our specialist consultants. As the leading advocate of this innovative technology, our experience gives us the insight to predict where a company is vulnerable during wide-scale desktop migration and to structure an implementation plan around fixed deliverables and a detailed timetable. Following a successful pilot we make a firm commitment for completion, enforceable with a mutually developed Service Level Agreement (SLA).

One major concern, when considering the move from traditional desktop PC over to Ultra Thin-Client, is how to migrate a wide and diverse range of applications to operate through server-based infrastructure. Some organisations are faced with an estate of hundreds (and in some cases thousands) of applications which need to be made available across varying user profiles.

Applications which may be bespoke, legacy or native to different operating systems must be audited and tested for system compatibility. ukngroup have so far been able to migrate between 95 and 100 per centof targeted applications across their current customer sites and have written into SLA, the continued accessibility to these applications. Rapid incorporation of any complex, existing estate is achieved with a specialised process that utilises the latest in software and hardware virtualisation techniques.

Having a ‘Shared Risk’ approach to project management and delivery fosters an important sense of security and protection. As an organisation seeks to make common sense decisions about unpredictable futures, ukngroup can help them make business sense of their specific challenges.

Application Hosting

Application hosting gives our clients the opportunity to have their business critical applications housed, maintained and supported in a secure off site data-centre. This is an attractive option for businesses who want to benefit from our specialist hosting services, and free themselves up to focus on the day to day needs of their business. More >
