British Retail Consortium figures reveal wave of cyber-threats

The BRC’s Retail Crime Survey of 1.1m employees in the sector has revealed a growing frontier of retail crime, driven by rising cyber-enabled incidents including phishing, theft of consumer data, doxing and social engineering, as well as a host of other increasingly elaborate scams.

The overall number of retail crimes committed had a direct financial cost of £660m in 2015-16.
