New cybersecurity certification first to address behavioural analytics

As hackers have increasingly learnt to evade detection from traditional systems such as firewalls, so this has led to a need for an analytics-based approach to identify anomalies, spikes, positives and false positives in network traffic, which could indicate symptoms of an underlying cyber-attack. Some of the highest profile cyber-attacks in recent times behind popular sites such as Twitter and Reddit cannot be stopped by traditional methods.

CompTIA, a leading IT association, has unveiled a vendor-neutral certification CSA+ as the first of its kind to ensure that cybersecurity workers are able to take a data-driven approach and bolster their organisations’ cyber defences.

IT professionals need to develop new data analytics skills so that they have the information and tools to keep up with emerging technologies.
