The new Android banking malware ESET recently discovered on Google Play has been targeting more banks, and its code was built using source code that was recently made public.
The malware was distributed as a version of a legitimate weather forecast application Good Weather which targeted 22 Turkish mobile banking apps, and could lock and unlock infected devices remotely and intercept text messages.
This week a new version was found masquerading as another legitimate weather app, World Weather, available in the Google Play store from February 14th to February 20th.
Both of these Android trojans are based on a free source code that was made public online.
There are ways to inspect and clean an android device of this malware, deactivating its device administrator rights and uninstalling under Weather.
